At 3:32am on Monday, 9 June, we received reports of a vehicle on fire on the A34 Southbound near Chieveley.
Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Newbury and Theale fire stations were sent to the scene, alongside the Water Carrier from Bracknell Fire Station and one Officer. Three crews and one Officer from Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service also attended the scene.
Upon arrival, crews found one lorry on fire. Two firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus used one hose reel, one main jet, the Water Carrier, and foam to put out the fire and make the scene safe. The scene was handed over to National Highways.
They were on scene for approximately four hours and 36 minutes.
