At 2:04pm on Monday, 21 August, we were called to an incident in water near Elgar Road in Reading.
Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Bracknell, Whitley Wood and Theale fire stations were sent to the scene alongside two Officer and a Water Rescue Unit from Caversham Road Fire Station.
Upon arrival, crews located and rescued a young person from the water before placing them in the care of South Central Ambulance Service. Tragically, they passed away following the incident. Our thoughts remain with their friends and family at this incredibly difficult time.
Crews were at the scene for approximately one hour before handing over to Thames Valley Police.
