Rescue from Water – Grand Union Canal, Iver

At 1.32pm on Tuesday, 18 June 2023, we received a call from Thames Valley Police to an incident in the Grand Union Canal near Iver.  

Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Slough and Langley fire stations, a crew from Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service and a Water Rescue Unit from Surrey Fire and Rescue Service were sent to the scene alongside two Officers.

Upon arrival, crews assisted the Police in recovering a casualty from the river. Sadly, the person was found dead at the scene. Our thoughts are with their friends and family at this incredibly difficult time.

Crews were on the scene for approximately one hour and 45 minutes before handing over to Thames Valley Police
