Water rescue in Twyford

At 2:31pm on Wednesday, 10 May, we received reports of a vehicle trapped in a river near Lands End Ford, Twyford.

Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Wokingham, Wokingham Road and Whitley Wood, along with two Officers were sent to the scene.

Upon arrival, crews discovered two people trapped inside the car. Crews rescued the occupants from the stranded vehicle and were handed into the care of South Central Ambulance Service.

The vehicle was made safe, while the road was closed in both directions by Thames Valley Police.

Crews were on the scene for around an hour.

If flooding does occur in your area, be careful while driving – just 30cm of flood water can make your car float.

If a road is flooded, turn around and find another route – it’s not worth the risk.
