Want to be an On-Call Firefighter? Come to our NFST Day

We are inviting applicants who are interested in becoming an On-Call Firefighter to attend the On-Call National Firefighting Selection Test (NFST) Day.

  • Date: Sunday, 10 September 2023
  • Time: 9:30am to 1:00pm
  • Location: Whitley Wood Fire Station, Whitley Wood Road, Reading, Berkshire, RG2 8FS

What is the On-Call NFST Day?

The NFST Day is a vital part of the recruitment process that requires applicants to complete a series of physical tests, to show that you have the fitness, stamina and abilities required to become an On-Call Firefighter.

The tests:

  • Ladder Climb
  • Enclosed Space
  • Equipment Assembly
  • Drill Ground Assessment
  • Ladder Lift Exercise

Who can attend?

This event is for applicants who have an interest in becoming an On-Call Firefighter at any of our On-Call Fire Stations:

  • Hungerford
  • Lambourn
  • Mortimer
  • Crowthorne
  • Maidenhead

(Please note: Applicants for Lambourn and Maidenhead are especially needed, as there more vacancies at these stations. Vacancies at Hungerford, Mortimer and Crowthorne are limited.)

Candidates who have already started the application process are preferred, but there is still plenty of time to apply before the day!
