We formally welcomed 12 new wholetime firefighters at a graduation ceremony on Friday, 5 June.
The ceremony, which was held at the Service’s Learning and Development Centre in Whitley Wood, recognised the achievements of the graduates.
“It was a pleasure and a privilege to formally welcome our newest firefighters,” said Mark Arkwell, Chief Fire Officer of RBFRS.
“Over the past three months, our graduates demonstrated great commitment and dedication in completing the initial training course.
“We’re incredibly proud of our newest firefighters and I hope they enjoy long and fulfilling careers here with us in Berkshire.”

Having joined the Service in March, the graduates spent the first several weeks of their training course at the Fire Service College in Gloucestershire, learning the fundamental skills needed in their new roles.
“We’re incredibly proud of our newest firefighters and I hope they enjoy long and fulfilling careers here with us in Berkshire.”

They returned the Berkshire in late April where, on top of continuing their training, the graduates raised approximately £5,000 for the Fire Fighters Charity.
The graduation ceremony, the first to be held at our new Learning and Development Centre, marked the end of their initial training course.
The graduates will now join with crews at Fire Stations across the Royal County where they will continue their development while protecting communities across Berkshire.
