Fire in Warfield, Bracknell

At 1.21pm on Saturday, 26th November, we received a call from a fire alarm monitoring centre to a supported living housing scheme in Warfield, Bracknell. Further emergency calls were subsequently received from members of the public.

Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Bracknell, Ascot, Wokingham, Crowthorne and Wokingham Road were sent to the scene. Three fire officers and an incident command unit (ICU) from Maidenhead also attended the incident alongside our emergency service partners.

Upon arrival, crews discovered a fire in a ground-floor living room area. Six firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the building, extinguished the fire and evacuated a ground-floor corridor. The fire was contained to the room of origin.

Crews remained on scene for around three hours, before returning to the property for a re-inspection. Fire investigators remained at the property until around midnight.

An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.

Sadly, one man died at the scene. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time.
