Celebrating National Inclusion Week

This year Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service is celebrating National Inclusion Week.

The theme of National Inclusion Week 2023 is Take Action Make Impact. Take Action Make Impact is about taking considerate actions that make a positive and lasting impact on ensuring our workplace is inclusive. Action should not be taken without the thought for impact, and action is meaningless without a tangible, visible, positive impact on those who are marginalised most.

To demonstrate our commitment to an inclusive culture here at RBFRS we are releasing a new EDI statement. We know how important it is for individuals to work for an organisation in which they can feel valued and we want to demonstrate our commitment to you. Fire doesn’t discriminate and neither do we.

Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service values your individuality, your diversity and your dignity.  All are welcome here.

Inclusion, diversity and equity are principles which guide our decisions and will be visible throughout the Service, and we will continually work to improve in these areas.  We are committed to creating an inclusive culture of dignity and trust where everyone feels safe and comfortable to bring their whole self to work.

Simply: The communities we serve are varied and diverse, we should be too.

To care for our communities well, we need to care about each other as well.”

Our commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion isn’t just a statement, it is about making a positive difference for all our employees and how we can work towards the society we want to see – both within and outside of our organisation. For us, this means valuing every employee as a unique individual. We want to recruit, develop, and retain the most talented people and make the best use of their skills and experience to deliver effective services to our communities, recognising the value that a diverse workforce brings.

We want to work together to create a truly inclusive work environment, where everyone is treated with dignity and respect, and whose contributions are valued equally.
