Wokingham Road firefighters hope to clean up for charity

Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service’s (RBFRS) firefighters will be hosting a car wash at Wokingham Road Fire Station to raise as much money as possible for two worthy causes.

On Saturday 22 October the firefighters are hoping to clean up at their charity car wash event, which will be held from 10am until 4pm.

All donations received on the day will be divided between The Fire Fighters Charity and a JustGiving page set up by firefighters at Whitley Wood Fire Station.

The Fire Fighters Charity provides a range of services for fire service personnel and their families, including therapy and rehabilitation for injured firefighters. Donations will also be given to a fund set-up by firefighters at Whitley Wood Fire Station. The firefighters have embarked on a county-wide challenge to raise money to fund Christmas presents for children who will be spending their Christmas on the Dolphin or Lion ward at Royal Berkshire Hospital, instead of at home with their families.

Chris Davis, Station Commander at Wokingham Road Fire Station, said: “We are hoping that lots of people will bring their cars to Wokingham Road Fire Station for a clean to help us raise money for two really great causes.

“The work that The Fire Fighters Charity does is invaluable and we are pleased to provide additional funding through our car wash event. We are also really pleased to be supporting our colleagues from Whitley Wood Fire Station to help them get as many donations as they can so they can give each child a gift which will hopefully bring a smile to their face this Christmas Eve.

“The car wash event also gives the public a great opportunity to come and ask us any questions they might have about fire safety which, of course, we are happy to answer. If you are in the Reading area, please pop down.”

The suggested minimum donation is £5 per car.
