Boat rescue in Reading

At 9:25am on Sunday, 11 February, we received reports of a boat in need of rescue on the River Thames near Caversham Bridge in Reading.

Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Wokingham Road, Whitley Wood and Theale fire stations were sent to the scene alongside the Water Rescue Unit from Caversham Road Fire Station.

Upon arrival, crews discovered the boat traveling downstream between Caversham Bridge and Reading Bridge. Firefighters on a water rescue boat caught the boat in distress and securely moored it. One bystander was taken into the care of South Central Ambulance Service.

Crews were at the scene for approximately 35 minutes.
